Our new home!

Yes, we have made it to Connecticut!! We arrived in Trumbull safe and sound after a very long road trip that lasted 7 days! There were ups and downs of course: the truck breaking down, the weather, sicknesses, but thankfully the kids were happy in their car seats for the most part, my mom and Hannah came along and helped with driving and keeping kids happy, and we stopped in Omaha, Nebraska for a day (where I grew up). That was really fun, I hadn't been there since I lived there 12 years ago. It was also nice to see the Winter Quarters temple for the first time ever. Needless to say, we were very exhausted and happy to be in our new apartment when we finally arrived.

It is so different here in so many ways. It is beautiful, though, there are so many trees everywhere you go, in fact our apartment complex is set in a grove of trees. I've heard that it is quite stunning in the Spring and Fall seasons when the trees have bloomed. We are so close to the ocean shore, we've driven by many times, the sunsets are amazing. I love driving through the neighborhoods because the houses are so cool! They're really nice old fashioned styles. One thing that we are going to have to get used to is how expensive it is here. Holy Cow!! We live in Fairfield County and we learned that it is the most expensive and the richest county in the Nation! BUT, Bridgeport (our neighbor city) is 6th in the Nation for poverty (and used to be 6th in the Nation for crime). So, there is obviously a lot of diversity too. We love our new ward, it consists of about 5 different cities, and everyone is so welcoming and nice. It's also been really nice to have some friends out here, too. We have two families from Utah starting the program also, so the husbands car-pool and study together and the kids and I have friends. It's nice to not feel completely alone while Taylor will be so busy.

We went to New York the other day, it only took us an hour and a half to drive to the Statue of Liberty! That was our first time ever being in New York City, it was nuts for Taylor to drive in, but we want to go again sometime soon (maybe after figuring out the train system), there are so many things that would be fun to see, and I can't believe we live so close.

Taylor has been enjoying school so far, he was pretty anxious to start and now that he has started he's been doing really well, and is liking his classes and learning alot. Taylor amazes me with how good of a student he is, he really enjoys school and learning. And now that he is learning how to do what he will be doing for the rest of his life, it's a lot more motivating and fun for him to learn.

This was only a small update, I feel like we have been going non-stop for a while. Sorry if this was boring, I will post a bunch of pictures really soon!!

Santa!

So, Santa Clause came to storytime yesterday, and Caden was so excited to see him so that he could ask him for what he wanted for Christmas. I think he was a little too excited, because as soon as he sat on his lap, Santa asked him how old he was and if he's been a good boy this year, and Caden just started saying, "legos batman, fingerpaints, (etc.)..." It was pretty cute.
In this past month, Caden and Tyson have been having a blast wrestling with each other, Tyson's been walking all over the place and is starting to scoot a little on his tummy, and Taylor and I have been keeping busy preparing for the big move, and we've also done a few big projects. One of them was helping Taylor's family paint the inside of their mom's house. She decided to have it be two-toned. I'm not very experienced in painting walls, but it was fun and I learned alot. We did the upstairs, then later we did the downstairs. This is Taylor publically expressing his love for me (hahaha!) with the leftover paint from the upstairs walls. Obviously this happened before the walls were done being painted. : )
I can't believe that we leave Utah in 11 days!! Where is the time going? And can you believe Christmas is in just 8 days? We are pretty excited!

What? Walking? Crawling is apparently overrated!

CAUTION: Caden is awesome with camera. (You'll have to turn your head sideways to watch this video:-) ) Actually I was quite proud him. He kept Tyson in the picture the whole time. Oh, and PLEASE ignore my annoying, overreaction of excitement at the end of it.

Tyson turned 9 months old yesterday, and has still made no attempt to crawl. However, for quite a while he has been holding on to our fingers and "walking" everywhere. He is not often happy when we sit him down to play with toys, he just wants your fingers so he can stand up and walk. It's cute how he thinks he is so big and I guess it makes sense since everyone he sees is walking, not crawling.

Well last Monday, Taylor and I had him walk by himself in between us, and he took a bunch of steps all by himself, and with pretty good balance!! We were so excited!

Our Halloween

We had a fun Halloween this year. It was nice because Taylor didn't have to work so he could come trick or treating with us. Caden gets to spend a lot of time with some of his cousins because they live so close, so we all went trick-or-treating together. We just hit the houses around the neighborhood that Taylor went to as a kid and it was really fun. Caden came home with a bucket full of candy so he wasn't complaining either.

This is Tyson giving us his best growl. We thought it appropriate to dress him up as a tiger as we have called him the "tyger" since he was born.

Caden decided to go as an elephant this year. We found a costume for him at Costco which turned out to be a little small. He took it all in stride and was more than happy to don the grey socks. It ended up being really cute with his big fat elephant suit and then two skinny little legs holding it up. It drew more than one smile as we would run into people we knew. Caden did really good with the trick or treating this year. He walked the whole time and never complained about being too tired. He just kept saying "one more house" and never wanted to stop. In fact the only complaint he had the entire time was right close to the end he grabbed my hand and asked me to carry him. When I asked why he just looked up and as innocent as could be said, "because my wedgie is starting to hurt." I figured that was a valid excuse :-)

Taylor's birthday was the 1st of October and one of the activities he wanted to do was bake a cake as a family activity. We had so much fun. We asked Caden what kind of cake we should make and he decided he wanted a Mario cake. So we went to work. It took us hours to make, cut, fit together, and frost, but the finished product was worth it. It turned out really well and we were really happy with it, so we thought we would post a picture here.

It has been a month full of fun things in the Corry house, and this may have been the topper. Taylor's mom got her mission call!! For those of you who didn't know, Taylor's mom has been preparing for a mission and has waited a while for the call to finally come. Well it is here and she is proud to announce that she will be serving a full-time mission at the family history center in Salt Lake City. She is so excited, and we are excited for her. Thanks Virginia for being such a great example for our kids!!!

Hair, Teeth, and Blue Eggs

Okay! I have a lot of catching up to do, so first of all please forgive me, and second, please read on!
About a month ago, we went to the zoo with Taylor's sister Becky and her family. It was a lot of fun, this is a picture of Caden, Tyson, and their cousins sitting on some statues of tigers, it was amazing that we got a shot of all five of them contained in one area! They have lots of fun and lots of energy!

Some of these pictures may not be the best quality because I took them with my phone, but what's important is that I got a picture of my two little Cougars all excited for the big game!! yeah, we like BYU Saturdays!
Tyson makes the cutest and funniest faces sometimes, I just had to add these two pictures as I caught the moment.

You may be wondering about the title of this post, so here is the explanation: I finally broke down and decided it was okay to give Tyson a haircut for the first time. I love the color of Tyson's hair and I have been somewhat paranoid that his hair may change to either brown or blonde as he grows, and so I never wanted to cut any of it off. But I was finally convinced to trim at least the extremely long wisps around his ears as long as I could save the hair in a ziplock bag. So I did, I know I'm kind of pathetic. Anyway, this is our adorable 8 month old after his "haircut". You can barely even tell the difference! So I'm happy.

We had a hard time getting him to smile for the picture because he didn't really like the haircutting process, so this was the happiest we could get.

This is him showing off his four new teeth. He likes to grind them and it's kinda noisy. I hope it's not bad for his teeth!

And this is Caden last night. He wanted a bed time snack and he asked for eggs. So Taylor asked him "What color do you want? Yellow or white?" Meaning scrambled or non scrambled. And Caden said he wanted blue. So Taylor decided to use food coloring and make him some blue eggs, and this was the gourmet result. However, it was kind of weird looking and Caden decided not to eat them after all that work, Oh well! Thanks babe, I thought they tasted good:)

Anesthesia!!

So it's official!!! Taylor got accepted to Nurse Anesthetist school in Fairfield Connecticut and we've decided to go!! We'll probably leave in December sometime because school starts in January. We are a little nervous but really excited at the same time for this new adventure. And here are some fun updated family pictures taken by Tynelle, (thanks again Tynelle) she does such a good job. Anyway, yay Taylor!! I'm so proud of him, he's worked so hard to get here!

We're back!!

A lot has happened since the last time I posted! Most importantly, our sweet little Caden had a big birthday!! He turned three years old on the 15th of June. It was really fun celebrating his birthday this year since he's actually old enough to understand what's going on. We are so grateful to have Caden in our family, he is such a wonderful boy and has been a great blessing in our lives. This is the first time I've tried to add a video to the blog, I hope it works, (it's at the bottom of the post) Caden was really cute singing happy birthday to himself as he was waiting to blow out his candles so he could eat his cake, hope you enjoy! These pictures are in a random order, but I wanted to show off my three cute guys!!
This is Taylor and I trying our first tomatoes from our garden! They were so delicious, and we're also getting lots of zuchini squash, yay!! We're so glad that it worked :)

An update on our lives right now: We're in the middle of getting graduate school figured out for January, we still don't know what's going to happen yet, so were waiting and trying to prepare right now. Tyson is about 18 lbs at 5 months old (which, funny enough, is as much as Caden weighed when he turned one year old!) and he just rolled over for the first time a few days ago, pretty exciting. We call him Tyson the tiger because he growels so much, it's cute! Caden still has so much energy and is suprising us every day with his vocabulary and loves to sing alot. He makes me laugh so much. Yesterday we told him that we're going to church so he needs to go put on some "nice" cloths, and he just looked at us and said, "but I want to put on some mean cloths!" hahaha!

The fruits of our labor. It's been fun to actually get something out of our garden.
